Our School

Boaz High School (BHS) serves students in grades 9-12, proudly educating a diverse student body of 715 individuals. We are committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and academically rigorous environment that aligns with the strategic objectives of Boaz City Schools. This alignment emphasizes high-quality teaching, comprehensive student support, and community engagement, ensuring that our efforts resonate throughout the district from top to bottom.

At BHS, we prioritize the cultivation of meaningful relationships and a positive school culture. We believe that strong connections among students, staff, and the community are fundamental to creating an atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported. This commitment to nurturing relationships contributes to an environment where students are motivated to achieve their personal and academic goals.

BHS is distinguished by a robust emphasis on preparing students for their future through both academic and practical pathways. Over 82% of our students are currently enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) classes, demonstrating a strong commitment to equipping learners with job-ready skills and real-world experience. Furthermore, more than 60% of our students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, fostering personal growth, teamwork, and leadership skills beyond the classroom.

Significant facility improvements have been made over the past three years to enhance the student experience and support our programs. These upgrades include a newly turfed football/soccer field, a refurbished main gym floor, and the installation of a high-definition, digital basketball scorekeeper’s table. We have also installed a new track and field, rebuilt our tennis courts, and are currently working on turfing and re-fencing the baseball and softball fields. Additionally, new LED lights have been installed on the baseball, softball, track, tennis, and football/soccer facilities, ensuring our facilities remain state-of-the-art.

Academically, BHS has shown promising trends in student success as measured by data from the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA). Our data reflects a positive trajectory with a decreasing number of students requiring remediation in math, reading, or both when entering college. This trend underscores our commitment to rigorous academic preparation and readiness for post-secondary success.

Boaz High School remains dedicated to cultivating an educational environment where relationships are valued, positive culture is upheld, and students are prepared not only for college and careers but also to be active, contributing members of their communities. Through continuous improvement, enriched programs, and strategic alignment, BHS stands as a cornerstone of excellence in our community.
