Principal's Message

Chris Hayes
Current and Future Pirates,
Welcome to Boaz High School – where we mold Bold, Honorable Scholars every single day!
My name is Mr. Chris Hayes, and I am both proud and humbled to serve as your principal.
Boaz isn’t just where I work – it’s home. Although I wasn’t born here, I’ve learned that my family roots run deep in this city. My great-grandparents were married in Boaz in December 1919 and lived on Walnut Street, and some of my great-grandmother’s McCain relatives rest at Red Apple Cemetery. I discovered these connections only after moving here, and it truly felt like God was calling me back to an ancestral home. I love this city, and I’m grateful every day to raise my family and lead our school here.
As a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, I will always honor and support every branch of our military, and I encourage each of you to do the same. I also believe that strong families are the backbone of a strong community. Whether you are married, single, divorced, blended, or part of a wide extended network – when families work together for the good of their children, our school, our city, and our future all thrive.
Speaking of family, I’m the proud dad of three amazing daughters: Calla (a junior in college), Conlie (a junior in high school), and Caigan (a sixth-grader). At home we live by a simple saying: “Hard truths are better than the best lies.” You’ll hear the same straight-talk from me because honesty is the foundation of a true mark of honor.
That’s why, this year and every year, we will challenge every Pirate to:
- Set bold goals,
- Create a clear plan of action,
- And work daily to become the best version of themselves.
Not every student will go to college – and that’s perfectly okay. College isn’t the only path to success. But every student WILL leave Boaz High School with a plan, with skills, and with the character needed to chase their dreams and contribute meaningfully to the world.
So let’s anchor down, turn two, and make this an incredible year together!
Semper Paratus!
Go Pirates!
